B40B Must Have: Oscar Blandi Summer Hair Protection

Every so often a company comes up with a product that truly answers a need; Oscar Blandi's Capri Sun-Shield Spray is one of those.

I swim a lot and enjoy the sun--but my hair does not. While I won't say I'm obsessive, I usually apply hair conditioner before I get in the pool (if I'm doing "serious" swimming with a cap on) and I wash and condition my hair when I get out of the pool. I even wrap it and hang in the sauna to allow the conditioner to "penetrate" (as if, right?). Of course, if I'm swimming sans cap for "fun", I do none of this and that's why my hair is in the God-awful condition it is. Throw in some sun and you can basically prop me up as a would-be scarecrow with straw hair for your fall holiday decorating. It's not pretty.

But Oscar Blandi Capri Sun-Shield is a perfect little helper for over-40 hair--hair that's typically dry, hair that's typically colored or bleached. Capri Sun-Shield has UV "inhibitors" to protect the color from fading or brassing out, but unlike some hair sunscreens of yore, it also contains Panthenol, Avocado Oil and Jojoba Oil to help keep hair's moisture balance. The fact that it's a spray-on is just a bonus.

I will say, if you hair is like mine (way-the-heck-dry) you will not use this and suddenly feel your hair is Pantene-model quality--but it does help diminish the effects of summer's harshest effects. It's worth a try...and it's avaiable at Sephora; 8 oz. for $20...
